Tower Riggers and Climbers During National Safety Month
ATLANTA – (June 20, 2007) – In recognition
of National Safety Month, Solusia, the premiere
provider of professional site services for the wireless industry, today
acknowledges the excellent work and vital role played by cell tower construction
specialists in building towers for the cellular industry.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics,
tower erector/climber still ranks as one the most dangerous occupations
in terms of percentage of fatalities per 100,000 workers, along side other
perilous jobs such as fishermen, loggers, and iron/steel workers. Cell
tower riggers and workers are required to climb cell towers and other
communication structures high above the ground.
“For our tower construction partners, safety is the foundation of
their underlining company culture, almost to the point it becomes a religion,”

individuals who work everyday in such a dangerous environment.”
Emphasis on safety in the wireless construction industry has actually
dropped tower climber from the top of the most dangerous jobs in 2004
to fourth in the latest release of statistics from the Bureau. Persistent
focus and refinement on best practices for safety should continue this
positive trend.
“Tower and site construction is often an overlooked and risky aspect
